Title: Nurses Convalescent Home
Post by: kentie on September 15, 2014, 21:41:04
I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this, and so sorry if it isn't.

I'm trying to find the location of a WW2 Nurses Convalescent Home run by the joint organisation of the Red Cross and the Order of St John, possibly within cycling distance of Strood. The artist, Evelyn Dunbar, who lived at The Cedars on Strood Hill was a commissioned war artist and in 1941 painted a series of pictures on the contribution made by nurses to the war effort. More on the painting can be read here:

Does anyone know where nurses convalescent homes were? It would be wonderful to find the actual location of the painting, although I suspect there were quite a few rooms with waist high wainscoting and a few paintings hanging on the wall.
Thank you for any suggestions.
