Title: Toll House, Lower Sandgate Rd, Folkestone
Post by: BenG on June 21, 2009, 11:59:01
At the mo I can seem to locate any info on the net but there was a board outside the house with its history on.
From what I can remember:
All traffic had to endure the winding steep hill between Sandgate and Folkestone until there was a landslide which created the land now known as the Lower Lees. A road was built creating easy access to Folkstone Harbour thus creating the need for a toll house.
