Thanks for the photos Kyn. They bring back childhood memories. When my father was a caretaker of the fort around 1950 he used to start the diesel engines in the engine room and test the searchlights.

How nice it must be to have memories of what it was all like, when you look at it now it is hard to imagine what the fort and batteries looked like!

The picture of the WW1 trenches fits in nicely with a picture I posted a while ago asking what these field marks were on the N Kent Downs behind Cheriton - lots of military land still there. Didn't realise they used that castellated design.
The scars of war take a long time to heal.

They are great aren't they, but Trikeman takes them all himself when he's flying  :)
