Title: Gurkha Bridge
Post by: kyn on April 05, 2010, 11:05:38
Unfortunately the Gurkha bridge has become unsafe and the Gurkha's are off to Afghanistan so cannot rebuild it.  Fingers crossed the Royal Engineers will accept the job!

Photo of the bridge after it was restored (by the Royal Engineers?) taken in 2016.   I believe the restoration work took place in Oct/Nov 2012?

Can anyone remember when the Gurkha Bridge was first built?

I was up at the Fort today and have now answered my own question about when it was first built.  There is a memorial plaque to it nearby which reads "This Bridge was constructed by H-Troop 69 Gurkha Indep Fd Sqn February 1987"

Some photos I took of it today.
