News: “Over the graves of the Druids and under the wreck of Rome,
Rudely but surely they bedded the plinth of the days to come.
Behind the feet of the Legions and before the Norseman’s ire
Rudely but greatly begat they the framing of State and Shire
Rudely but deeply they laboured, and their labour stand till now.
If we trace on ancient headlands the twist of their eight-ox plough.”

OO one I know - as a child, aged from around 6 through to 8 or 9 I attended gymnastic classes there on the top floor.  The years '71 to '75 ish.   I have no idea what was on the ground floor though
Wish I could remember the name of the man who used to teach us - I'll ask my mum and sister later today. It may have been the Co-op Gym Club?

I've noticed this building a few times when I have passed it, but no nothing about it.  From the 1959 & 63 Kellys it seems to be something to do with the Gillingham Co-operative Society. Does anyone know anything about its history and the significance of the stone skep (beehive)?
