Using the Google Earth ruler and the scale on my old Bartholomews map it seems that Fort Moncrieff was about half a mile from the Redoubt. That might place it's site somewhere in that area of discoloured shingle above. At least when we go by the ranges on the bus it appears to be mainly shingle in this area. It's hard to be more exact as the Bartholomew's scale is 4 miles to 1 inch.I'm also taking the tower shown on the old map near the road bends as the Redoubt site.I've also seen what could be the rear wall of the fort in one the old maps on Old Maps.co.

I have used GE on them and there really is nothing left. I think that is a set of Range Butts. Any one got a photo? Please....... Sentinel S4.

I take it then there are no existing photos of Moncrieff. Sad really as they look interesting. When were they demolished? Sentinel S4.
Looking at GE, wher the Martello is to its west, the martello is well down the beach
This shows 1930s OS v current, http://wtp2.appspot.com/wheresthepath.htm?lat=51.05615228157084&lon=1.0509083648187593&gz=14&oz=8&gt=5

in the drop down box reading OS + 1930s change it to OS+ Sat to get aerial view, I reckon there are some remains slightly NE of the martello but it could be range butts etc

Thanks, Towerwill. That really helps with the location. Odd to see the Marsh without the RH&DR on it. Regards, Sentinel S4.
