News: “Over the graves of the Druids and under the wreck of Rome,
Rudely but surely they bedded the plinth of the days to come.
Behind the feet of the Legions and before the Norseman’s ire
Rudely but greatly begat they the framing of State and Shire
Rudely but deeply they laboured, and their labour stand till now.
If we trace on ancient headlands the twist of their eight-ox plough.”

Many thanks!

Yes, it looks as if it was indeed replaced on site by the present SDA church.

It appears to have been a typically modest provincial Catholic Apostolic building (though it would have had an elaborate interior layout to accommodate their complex liturgical requirements).

Has anyone ever seen any photos of the former Catholic Apostolic church?  It stood in New Road, possibly where the Seventh Day Adventist Church now stands, or close by, and was built at some time after 1854.  It closed in 1948 and was used as a paper store until being taken over by the SDAs in 1959.  I understand it was for sale in 1982, so was presumably demolished soon after (and replaced by the new SDA church?).

Just for the record, the Catholic Apostolic Church was a separate denomination (i.e. not RC or C of E) which flourished in the 19thC, and is still (just) in existence......
