News: The modern name of Kent is derived from the Brythonic word kantos meaning "rim" or "border", or possibly from a homonymous word kanto "horn, hook"

Nice!
Any chance of an enlargement of the Langdon Prison bit in the first (and third!) photo?

Yup, that's it.  On Monday I'll see what others we have knocking around at work.

Eastern Docks, to the east of Terminal Control Building and just past ED1/2 berths.  Can post pix if required (assuming I can figure out how to!) but for now see www.atlantic-cable.com.  A fair amount of stress given to the PO in the 1954 Dover Harbour Consolidation Act also.

Yes, Eastern Dock for sure. Recall the cable-laying ship (Ariel?) being moored there, always in the north-west 'corner'.

Hi - Does anyone know where the Post Office Cable Depot was situated in Dover Docks ?? I have a slide dated 21 11 1921 showing a small bridge carrying a cable with a partially dismantled warship in the background, there are no other identifying features in the background.

Thanks.

Keniff
