Mikeb is correct - it was Trumpers.
It's no use getting old if you don't get artful

up Magpie there was a Hardware shop  it always had a smell  of parraffin , and there was alwas sacks  of something in the door way

I think you are re-calling Trumpers hardware store. One of those "we got one here somewhere" shops.

Was a butchers shop for a very long time - both the 1937 & 1955 Kelly's have 'Caleb Baker, Butcher' on the premises.

Strange decision, Baker becoming a butcher :)

It was definately still a butchers in the late 70s as i used to be sent there to get mince for Saturdays Shepherds pie. It was closed for a while before being converted to accomodation.

I'm with mikeb on this one.  :)

Lewis' was still trading as a butcher in the 1974 Kelly's, and that building doesn't look like it was built in the 1970's (or later).

The windows on the upper floor have the same distinctive 'upright' bricks above, the same as the rest of the terrace.
