Last time I saw Billie she was at Preston in the barn looking a little better than scrap. I have fond memories of riding on this line in the early 1970's. Happy, innocent days.
A day without learning something is a day lost and my brain is hungry. Feed me please.

Have found this article today.

Fans of amusement parks can now see pictures of Dreamland in it's heyday.
The Dreamland Trust has put the pictures dating back to the 1920s on the flickr website. Susannah Foad, who looks after the archive said "The majority of the collection came from John Hutchinson, who had been collecting them for around 30 yrs. His family donated them after he died." The images record the amusement park's history up until the 1980s. Ms Foad said "The sheer amount of of people in some pictures is unbelievable. In 1920 when it opened, half a million people went on the scenic railway. It would be fantastic if we could get that again."

At present there are around 350 images, but the trust is keen to hear from anyone who may have pictures of the park down the ages. It will also be recording aural histories of people who worked there. Ms Foad said
"There is a man who painted posters and a brakeman on the scenic railway, accounts we would not know from  the  newspapers." The flickr site is due to be updated every month.

" The pictures of the zoo are interesting. There was one incident in the 1950s when 20 monkeys escaped from the zoo. They were found on rooftops, in the churchyard and in a cupboard."

The site is expected to become an amusement park based on historic rides. Officials are awaiting the outcome of a public enquiry into Thanet District Council's plans to compulsorily purchase the site to turn it into a heritage attraction.
