Your quite right, Signals - it's shown on the OS map at the northern end of the Paddock. Perhaps this is the one that was moved.

Smiffy, there was a trough on the street side of Chatham town hall. Next to the town hall was a small waiting room, I think it belonged to Maidstone & District, there was a horse trough there up until the fifties?

Regarding the Luton Arches horse trough, I'm pretty sure there was an old horse trough around the back of Chatham town hall when the temporary council offices were there, late '70s early '80s. I assume it was the same one, but have no idea what's happened to it since.

Was this a working function still after it had been moved? The horse trough itself may have been deemed not suitable for the park, or inelegant, or someone wanted it for their garden.

Another thing about the horse trough: Does anyone know what the inscription was?
It's no use getting old if you don't get artful

The stone from the Arches is now in the Cemetary on Maidstone Road, or Palmerstone Road depending what way you go in. If you go from the Palmerstone road entrance, turn right 90 degrees and its at the end in the corner if i remember correctly. There was a picture on here somewhere but I cant find it, I did have one of my own, but whoops this seems to have dissappeared too!
