Thanks for the information numanfan. Yes it certainly does make you wonder how many old shop signs are still lurking about. If only we were able to peep under the newer signs.

Leonard C. Haydon was listed as a boot repairer at 110a Luton Road in the 1955 Kelly's Directory.

Still there in 1967, but not listed as a trader.

By 1968 the shop is a launderette.


Good spot sandi_01, it makes you wonder how many other 'old' signs are lurking under the current ones? :)

I took this photo today on my mobile phone and apologise for the quality as it has been a dull, drizzly day. This shop up until recently was the launderette on the corner of Short Street/Luton Road. I noticed the sign had fallen down leaving the old name underneath, I wonder if anyone has any information on it please? It looks like the sign says...C. L. C. HAYDON. I am sorry if this shop has been mentioned on the forum before.
