Hi all.

As a kid seem to remember a coach firm called 'Sonners' used to run from here. (around late 1970's)

I remember it very well. I used to live (dad still does) on upper Pump Lane. It amazed how stupid a place it was to have coach depot. They are now at the old Betta-bakes site aren't they?

I've just found mentioned in The Gillingham Chronicles:

"In 1838 a field South of Pump Lane was given over to brickmaking"

Pump Farm is still there Behind a gig new wall !
The shop you remember went several years ago as it wasnt making any money
My friend Stuart still runs Pump Farm ( Apples ) belongs to his father...
The land KingsFerry used to have was at one time part of the farm but I believe was sold off years ago

Medway Secondary Metals used to have the dock and did indeed break up old ships there for many years
Now cleaned up and part of the Riverside country park  ( Unless the Pikey's get in there ! )
I ride my bike around there a lot... Its quite pleasant....

BTW Im in Norway this evening and its bloody freezing !
Cant wait to get hoem to some Kentish Autumn weather...

Wasnt the coach park formerly Pump Farm? I remember a farm shop being there as a kid, they sold really nice homemade cakes! ^^^

It can be found on old maps here: http://www.old-maps.co.uk Search coordinates E:581157 N:167638 or thereabouts for Pump Lane.

@Paul: Thats Bloors Wharf. Yeah youre right it was both. Wharf - WareHouse Adjacent to River Front. Or something. ;D

They used to dismantle old boats and do general scrap metal type stuff there in the 80s. Before that... ???

It used to be here:

I remember as a kid walking down the road to the river wall, it was frightening when a coach would come bombing up this little country road  :o

Im looking for information about the former Kingsferry Coach Park in Lower Pump Lane Rainham
Up until a few years ago it had a couple of barns and some smaller outbuildings and was used by Kingsferry to clean and maintain their coaches
Its since been re-developed into housing and there was a major cleanup required
I have heard that it was used as a fuel Depot by the military at one point but no proof of that
There's also rumours of an ammo dump further down Pump lane
My lad found what I believe is part of a WW1 era mortal shell in the field a few years ago
If I can find it I will post a PIC
