My father, John Teale, who passed away earlier this year, lived in Rochester at the start of WW2. At 17 years of age he joined the Rochester AFS on 23rd September 1940. I have a few pieces of memorabilia which I would be happy to share. I remember him talking about fighting a fire at a 'gas works' during the blitz. Please can you advise me on how I might find out more about my Dad's wartime experiences. I am trying to put together a record of these for our family.

Hi Merc! :)

All I could find out was that the fire was in 1917 and the photograph of the brigade in the boilerhouse. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

Sorry Bryn Clinch, I can't find your PM.

I`ve re-sent it! Can`t think where the first one went.

Edit. Can`t find any indication that this one has `gone`either.

Hi Merc :)

If you can find the date of the fire, I might be able to turn up something, but it might take some time.

I've had these two photo's shown to me by someone looking for information on the fire. I was told they were of Kemp Brothers, Builders, Joiners, Saw mills, Station Road, Rainham.

Does anyone have any info on the fire please?
