Talking of boy's toys, I have fond memories of Blundells in Gillingham High Street.
nostalgia's not what it used to be

Babyland is now an oriental restaurant. I recall many occasions looking at the displays in the windows that ran along the alleyway down the side of the shop. For boys toys in Gillingham it was always Babyland, Bakers Models in Canterbury Street or the old Co-Op in the High Street.

Lyn L. You are a silly old duffer (only joking).  It just goes to show how we can get things wrong sometimes, at least on here we have others to help put things right.

I was starting  to think I had lost the plot, even thought I might go down to Aldi to check it out.

Sorry folks,  hands up, I got it wrong (red face here) but it was a long time ago now, my son was 48 last month  :) I can see now looking on GE, that it was by the alley.
Half our life is spent trying to find something to do with the time we have rushed through life tryi

Thanks for that Peterj.   I was going by what Lyn L  said.  Lyn L said; " The shop was right next door to The Plaza towards the railway station end."  I took that to mean that the shop was where the estate agents is now.

Sorry Colin Haggart but Babyland was further down Duncan Road, as stated previously, on the corner of the alley that leads to the Masonic Hall and continues to Balmoral road. Matrix Oriental restaurant now occupies the building.

Thank you colin haggart and Prefabkid.  :)

The two ladies  left & middle) were sisters by all accounts. This must of been published in a local paper at the time. It has that look about it. What local papers were in publication in the 60's ?

Is there a way of tracking it down ?

There is a little glimpse of the shop, it's on the right of the cinema.  This is one of Prefabkid's photos which he has allowed me to put on here to show where the shop was. The shop is now David Andrew, estate agents.

The alley leads through to the Balmoral Masonic Hall, if that helps.

The shop was just down from the cinema, next to the alley.
