News: “Over the graves of the Druids and under the wreck of Rome,
Rudely but surely they bedded the plinth of the days to come.
Behind the feet of the Legions and before the Norseman’s ire
Rudely but greatly begat they the framing of State and Shire
Rudely but deeply they laboured, and their labour stand till now.
If we trace on ancient headlands the twist of their eight-ox plough.”

I finally got up there today with the kids. It would be nice if the information sign had a bit more history on it, so will have to start looking stuff up to answer all the questions the kids had.

Don't worry, I know how muddy it is, I regularly walk my dog up there near the Orchard Car Park.....

It is at the eastern edge of the park, farthest away from the fishing lake.

Just a warning, some of the paths are still muddy.

Forgive my ignorance, but where are the ruins at Capstone?

Liney,

If you do a search of City Ark, you'll find nearly 400 references to the history of the manor including this place - enough to satisfy anyone's curiosity!

Hi

I actually got round to walking out to see these ruins in Capstone Park today.  I'd like to know a bit more about them, if anyone has any information and would love to see a picture.

Does anyone know if the actual farm house was where the remains are? The board only mentions the remains of a barn and animal stables.

Can anyone tell me when it stopped being used.

Thanks in advance.
