Also this card with alternative description. From what I have read it may be that Brompton Institute was the early beginnings of Holy Trinity Church and school,
Thus this could be the school/institute band and being where it is, adopted a military style uniform.
By the 1900's the church and Institute's earliest mention was 40 years before in 1861.

I was also looking for information regarding this band and on a similar blank postcard it has the contact address for the band as 159 Gillingham Road. GILLINGHAM Kent.
Another card displayed elsewhere is postmarked Snodland 1905 so the picture must have been taken prior to that date.
The 1901 Census does not record anyone living at 159 in that year but in 1911 the occupants are as follows:-
Unoccupied in1901.
In 1911 the following occupants ? I wonder if the girl in the picture is Evangeline Grace ALLEN
and her parents had some responsibility for the Band?

Brompton Boys Band

I got this postcard showing "The Brompton Boys' Band 1907-8" published by Published by W. & J. MacKay & Co., Ltd.  I believe MacKay & Co were based in New Brompton.

The picture appears to have been taken on the Inner Lines (I think that is Holy Trinity Church in the background, or maybe the Garrison Church?)  I'm not sure if the band was military or civilian in origin. Does anyone know anything more about this band?
