News: “Over the graves of the Druids and under the wreck of Rome,
Rudely but surely they bedded the plinth of the days to come.
Behind the feet of the Legions and before the Norseman’s ire
Rudely but greatly begat they the framing of State and Shire
Rudely but deeply they laboured, and their labour stand till now.
If we trace on ancient headlands the twist of their eight-ox plough.”

Really hope they are not "painting over" and just maybe covering over with, say, timber so the original could still be uncovered and seen in all its glory in years to come.  It looks in good condition still, so it would be sacrilege to paint over it

This old shoe shop would have looked beautiful back in the day, all the original windows and metal frames are still in place. Just caught this one before it got painted over. It's just near the part where you walk through to Somerfield/Gateway, near the large shop which used to be called "House of Holland" where I bought my first BMX
