News: The modern name of Kent is derived from the Brythonic word kantos meaning "rim" or "border", or possibly from a homonymous word kanto "horn, hook"

The appliance in the bay is a Commer K2 water tender introduced in the summer of 1966. However, at this time, these would have been allocated to wholetime stations, not retained ones so I think this photograph is approx 1971/2>. Appliances were allocated to retained stations from wholetime ones when their machines were due for upgrading.

Aylesham Fire Station was built in 1955.

A photograph of Aylesham Fire Station, I suppose around 1965/1970, looking at the motor-cycle.
