So possibly someone who was trying to get weapons or explosives into England to supply the (what we now know to be a virtually non-existent) 5th column.

No problem JohnWalker.
Reading through the link it states that it was used as an interrogation centre to root out spies and armers. Does anyone have any idea what an armer was?

Can anyone answer this topic which came up in conversation recently?

Dreamland was requisitioned by the Government during the second world war.  What did they use it for?

Warning!

I'm not sure at what point I thought it would be fun to ride this centrifuge on a visit earlier in the year.  Starts about 1:20.

I'm just coming up for 70 and it made me feel ill for a couple of days.  I felt all my intestines heading toward my back and I could hardly expand my chest to breathe.  So all you oldies - don't be tempted no matter how much your grandchildren beg you to join them and tell how brilliant it is.  :)

Drove round the the back of Dreamland today.  The rebuilt Scenic Railway or Roller Coaster as I call it is stunning.  It's looks like a complete rebuild and the tracks are now being laid.  Renovated vintage rides are in store ready to be assembled for the opening on June 19th.  The park won`t be complete this year but it's a great start.  I will be on that Roller Coaster some time this year.  You won't get me on those modern white knuckle rides but this one is ok.

Hi to all, I went to Margate on 4-7-2014 with my wife. On the Front there is a Dreamland Experience near the entrance of Dreamland. The people inside are great to talk to as they are involved with the charity that is trying to regenerate the site. Also inside there is a cinematic display and some other exhibits, such as two Gallopers from Carousel, also some of the original Pinball Machines which you may play with purchased tokens. GREAT FUN and memories.

Eve at the Fair. Filmed at Margate (1930) Some nice shots of the roller coaster but cuts out too soon.
