Just found a reference in Dover in the Second World War (Sutton/Leach 2010) to a wartime mortuary in the former chalk pit (now St Bartholomews Close) off Tower St.

Just as an after thought, do you know when it was closed as I think that it was moved to Buckland hospital late 70's. As from a few years ago when the mortuary at Buckland closed everything goes to William Harvey Hospital.

Here are a couple of pictures showing the location. They are several years apart. The mortuary is marked with a red marker.

No idea I'm afraid, except that it was there in the 1960s.

As indicated in the excellent post Murder in Dover Plaza, does anybody know of the location of the then Borough Mortuary, Dover?
