A great part of Chatham Dockyard is now illuminated with the electric light, and experiments are going on at Portsmouth with a view to its immediate introduction there.

The admiralty have decided to light the dockyard and other naval establishments at Chatham with the electric light, and the necessary machinery is now being fitted up. The work of the departments will in future be carried on, should the occasion require it, throughout the night.
