John Thomas also carved the statue of Godiva in Maidstone Museum, designed Preston Hall and the font in Aylesford Church. He worked for Prince Albert and designed Somerleyton Hall, Suffolk.

The Queen Victoria Statue and drinking fountain was listed on the 2nd August 1974 as a Grade II monument.  It was installed in 1862 and designed by John Thomas.
