News: “Over the graves of the Druids and under the wreck of Rome,
Rudely but surely they bedded the plinth of the days to come.
Behind the feet of the Legions and before the Norseman’s ire
Rudely but greatly begat they the framing of State and Shire
Rudely but deeply they laboured, and their labour stand till now.
If we trace on ancient headlands the twist of their eight-ox plough.”

I'm not local to that area but King Edward Road first appears on the 1906 revised 6in to the mile OS map and it appears to be still under construction at that time.

I have a relative who was living at King Edward Road, Gillingham when he married in 1905. I am unable to locate King Edward Road in the 1901 Census to see if he was living there then. My question is, was King Edward Road always King Edward Road or was it renamed for the new King in 1901 prior to the census taking place?

Many thanks for any help
