News: “Over the graves of the Druids and under the wreck of Rome,
Rudely but surely they bedded the plinth of the days to come.
Behind the feet of the Legions and before the Norseman’s ire
Rudely but greatly begat they the framing of State and Shire
Rudely but deeply they laboured, and their labour stand till now.
If we trace on ancient headlands the twist of their eight-ox plough.”

This thread keeps popping up yet replies are never added, what a great forum that does not deserve to die like this

Let's give Kyn some time and space to decide what she would like to do with the forum. It's only a few weeks since she had a bereavement and still has personal problems. I'm sure most if not all of us know how losing someone close has all sorts of affects and may take a good while to come to terms with. I'm sure we will find out at some point whether it will continue. I hope it does .

Just to echo Lyn's point, I'm aware that Kyn has just had a bereavement in the family, something that's been coming for a while, but tough to deal with nevertheless. I'm more than happy to give her the time and space to deal with it in her own way. I've also offered to take over the Forum (temporarily or otherwise) as I have the time and skills to do it, but lets just bear with her and let her come to a decision in her own time.

I'll still check in hoping things have changed, but if not and I don't get the chance again, farewell to all especially Kyn. Here's hoping for long life and happiness for all.

Well, there you are a crossection of answers, all good points of view, sorry Herb collector but I can't subscribe to the"leave it alone and maybe it will get better" view.Kyn, God bless her,has created a wonderful thing ,that we have all enjoyed over the years,,remember the landing craft in Chatham thing?
I personally will be for ever grateful for the help I received from the members on locating my lost brothers grave in Sheppy, plus all the information I wanted.
Don't want to see our beloved fourum just fade away, let's give it the send of it deserves.dont want to watch it disappear into the mist of time.i have given much thought to this, please no one get offended ,I think of you all as friends with whom I have spent many happy times and threads.
It would be fair and proper if Kyn gave us her opinion, but it appears the lady can't be contacted?
Shuley that alone indicates the way she would want it ti go.

It is a great pity that KHF is more or less defunct.   I used to check in most days, and there was, most days something of interest.  If KHF rises again it would be great, if not it has been a great forum... and just two last questions, who was the eventual winner of guess the.place, and why did that landing craft fall off of the trailer in Railway street, Chatham.

Well spoken those men. I feel the less pressure put on Kyn the better. Although it's not vindictive pressure I'm sure from anyone on here. Close it right off Kyn if you want to and be assured we all wish you and yours the very best for the future.

Hi all.
As I understand it the reason the forum was closed 25/11/18 was because a fault developed that allowed some posts to be altered by anyone.
To reopen the forum 24/12/18 Kyn had to remove posts made between 15/10/18 and 25/11/18. At the same time many non-active members were removed. Unfortunately members can only post on two topics.

As Bilgerat notes Kyn has a "lot of personal stuff going on right now and doesn't have the time or inclination for the KHF".

I think it is best if we avoid any speculation at this point.

Hi all,I suppose some one has to say it,this wonderful fourum has to go one way or the other.
We all have our memories of highlights and wity banter over the years, but in all fairness to Kyn and the membership,is it worth going on the way it is,.?my opinion is it would be kinder to close it completely than continue speculating, will it ,won't it ,with all the ramifications of running a thing such as this,Kyn has obeusly reached the end of her tether.lets give the lady a break and call it a day.
Sorry if this offends any one,,it's my opinion honestly held, let's hear your comments ladies and gentalman

I agree. Absolutely the best forum for gaining knowledge about our towns and bringing back those memories. Let's hope Kyn gets over her problems and someone with time and knowledge makes the effort to keep it going and help her out.
If it shuts down entirely in the near future, my best wishes to all.
AlanH.

Echo those sentiments, the forum has been so useful it would be sad to see it just fade away.

Alan,

When Kyn put out the call for help in running the forum I was staggered that nobody volunteered. I wrote to her by private message and made my excuses. While I'm reasonable on the computer skills front, at that time I really could not help.

My health deteriorated and I ended up having triple heart bypass surgery last year. I stopped using the forum and it was only out of curiosity that I recently logged on. It is so frustrating that this great forum will just wither and fade. Now I'm (hopefully) on the mend I would offer assistance, but I don't know if its still possible to contact Kyn.

So frustrating! Maybe someone will read this and contact Kyn.

Alec.
