News: The modern name of Kent is derived from the Brythonic word kantos meaning "rim" or "border", or possibly from a homonymous word kanto "horn, hook"

Can you remember where it was posted? If it was in General Chat then it might well have been deleted.

I'm happy to give Kyn more time, but if she could just give us a brief update on her intentions for the KHF I'm sure it would be appreciated by everybody.

I did speak to Kyn on the phone about a year ago about a troublesome member in here, who kindly was encouraged to leave.  Give Kyn more time, as the information on here is far too important to lose.

I am in no way promising this is possible, and in no way would I want to replace this fine forum, but if I am able, would people be interested in a temporary new home to post items etc?

I know that we will often point people in the direction of the forum in the library if we (I) know of a useful thread that may help.

I've tried to get in touch with Kyn via several means, all unsuccessful. I've offered to run and fund the Forum (temporarily) until she feels ready to take the reins again, all of which have been ignored. I pop on now and again, but have given up the research and writing for now and have found a new way to spend my spare time. I understand that Kyn has suffered a family bereavement, but then so did I, over Easter when I too lost my mum.

I have considered opening a new forum, as well as following in CliveH's footsteps and getting published, but right now, I'm too busy with other things. Maybe in the winter.

Good post MartinR. Let's all hope the very best for Kyn whether or not she returns to run the forum. It's been a great source of knowledge and given me personally much pleasure over the last few years since I "discovered" it.
In fact, I wish all the best to all on here and that's from someone who hasn't lived in the towns for many years, think fondly of the many good times I had and try not to think too harshly of the bad ones.

@Signals99, I understand that Kyn has had significant personal problems.  I have no knowledge of them but the line "I have learnt of your loss, Kyn. May I offer my condolences" from lutonman1 gives me a hint.  It is not therefore a case that she has "grown tired of the fourum[sic]".  She appealed for help before Christmas so again it is not "some what abitary[sic] just to drop the hammer".

It is almost a certainty some one out there has an address or location for Kyn. May be presumptuous of me but if the lady has grown tired of the fourum ,hand it over to someone who has the time a know how to administer it,seems some what abitary just to drop the hammer the way she has.
There is a way to get in touch, that's presuming Kyn is prepared to discuss the matter. If the lady has problems maybe there is one among us who can help?

I too hope that things turn for the better for Kyn, and I wish her all the luck in the world. I also pop onto the site in hope from time to time, and add my support to any future incarnation that might keep the site alive.

Hi
Yes I am still checking in most days. I have been trying to see if any other threads are working but not found any other's yet.

I see it's been 6 months since Kyn last logged in,  so the chances are the site will eventually get a glitch and that will be it. On a positive note I see most of the regulars have stayed in touch; which shows there is  still  an appetite for the forum.
Such a shame Kyn didn't give others a chance to run the forum. Whilst it may have been Kyn's baby, there has been an awful lot of others who have helped develop it into a fine resource; and in my opinion, one of the best social history sites out there. It would be a crime to lose it all.
In my spare time I'm slowly going through the forum and saving my favourite threads and pictures. In that way, at least when it does disappear it won't be completely lost to me.
But nevertheless; I still live in hope some solution will be found, and KHF will live on!

Updating or adding to older posts could be a way to keep things ticking over. HERB COLLECTOR did this recently.
