Thanks for that link conan, I have an old black glass beer bottle that is embossed Sittingbourne Steam Brewery which has DW embossed to the base. I was always under the impression the DW was something to do with Dean and Williams, but according to the link it is probably Paynes or Vallance.

Whilst looking for images of Halfway Houses in connection with the geneology thread I noticed on this picture of the Halfway Houses pub the legend Paynes Fine Ales
