News: “Over the graves of the Druids and under the wreck of Rome,
Rudely but surely they bedded the plinth of the days to come.
Behind the feet of the Legions and before the Norseman’s ire
Rudely but greatly begat they the framing of State and Shire
Rudely but deeply they laboured, and their labour stand till now.
If we trace on ancient headlands the twist of their eight-ox plough.”

The bomb appeared to come down on the junction with Rock Avenue and Shakespeare Road.

ps. Find the area on map then go to map views and select 1946.
You can zoom down to see the damage.

Chatting with my cousin today and she mentioned that during the war that house was bombed, is there any way that we can find out about this, the family went to stay with relations in Birmingham. Then returned to the home after the war.

The house number also showed up as being formerly number 25, so the numbers of the properties had changed.

I have been going through a box of important papers of my mother`s and come across a receipt for the purchase of a house by my G grandfather of a property in Shakespeare Road in 1904 for the sum of £250.00s.00d, the house remained within the family untill 1974.
