                  POSSIBLE AIR-CRAFT RAID OVER MAIDSTONE.

                                                         CAUTION

In the event of a Zeppelin or Aeroplane Raid, Maidstone must be immediately
placed in total darkness.
Three Bombs will be fired from the Police Station at short intervals when the
danger is imminent, and if at night the Electric Light supply will be cut off.
Inhabitants must immediately, if the raid is at night, take steps to turn out all gas
and render their premises absolutely dark when viewed from outside, and should
remove themselves to the basements and cellars wherever possible, and keep
there till the raid is over.
Three more Bombs will be again fired when all danger from the raid is over.

W. H. Martin, Mayor. Town Hall, 28th January 1915.

I think that by bombs they mean maroons.
