News: “Over the graves of the Druids and under the wreck of Rome,
Rudely but surely they bedded the plinth of the days to come.
Behind the feet of the Legions and before the Norseman’s ire
Rudely but greatly begat they the framing of State and Shire
Rudely but deeply they laboured, and their labour stand till now.
If we trace on ancient headlands the twist of their eight-ox plough.”

Oakwood Hospital fires
When I was in the KFB I attended a few fires at  Oakwood hospital.
This time it was to the attached dairy farm, they wanted us to check their haystack, they had seen wisps of smoke, we checked and found it was smouldering in the middle, we said it will have to be dismantled.
They supplied a tractor and trailer and driver, we started pulling it apart, the driver was dumping it in an adjoining meadow. After a while he said come and look at this, he showed us a cow munching on a sheaf of hay and the other end was smouldering, it looked like it was smoking a large cigar, we said you will have smoke flavored milk.
