Regarding Conanís second pair of photos, showing Fort Luton and Street End Road, wasnít the site of the present golf range and/or allotments and/or factories the site of the council tip until several years after the war? (Late 40ís/early 50ís).

Thanks Lyn L, I was wondering whereabouts a fort was near Gillingham Park other than Fort Darland.

Yes, conan's first pics are the Delce area. My house hasn't even been built yet in the older pic ( built 1947 ) St Williams Way, Rochester

So if itís not necessarily Gillingham, Conanís first pair of photos looks like the Priestfields and Delce area of Rochester

Ah yes the old dig for victory campaign.Allotments on the whole seemed to have been very popular here's two in the the same screen grab both substantial plots.One is just left of centre at top the other is central at bottom
