News: “Over the graves of the Druids and under the wreck of Rome,
Rudely but surely they bedded the plinth of the days to come.
Behind the feet of the Legions and before the Norseman’s ire
Rudely but greatly begat they the framing of State and Shire
Rudely but deeply they laboured, and their labour stand till now.
If we trace on ancient headlands the twist of their eight-ox plough.”

When I was in the Fire Bde we went to Oakwood Hospital to talk to the nurses about fire prevention, we discussed fire extinguishers and what they should tackle and what they should leave alone, we had a Q and A then we went outside to demonstrate rescues using the 100ft Turntable ladder.
We had two fireman on a large ledge, one fireman put the other in canvas belts, one under the arms one around the legs, we then lowered the fireman by line to the ground.

We then went inside for tea and biscuits and a chinwag.
A good time was had by all.
