News: The modern name of Kent is derived from the Brythonic word kantos meaning "rim" or "border", or possibly from a homonymous word kanto "horn, hook"

Broadstairs postcards
Dear Monkton Malc

A friend has recently acquired an oil painting precisely the same as your postcard.  (Yorkgate 1798)

I am trying to identify the artist of the painting, which we hope was the source of the image on the postcard.

The bookshop opposite the hotel, up the hill and round the corner from the Gate, in Broadstairs, sells the same postcards for 2.50.  But, they are recent copies done by Judges of Hastings.

Can you help in any way with any information.
