News: “Over the graves of the Druids and under the wreck of Rome,
Rudely but surely they bedded the plinth of the days to come.
Behind the feet of the Legions and before the Norseman’s ire
Rudely but greatly begat they the framing of State and Shire
Rudely but deeply they laboured, and their labour stand till now.
If we trace on ancient headlands the twist of their eight-ox plough.”

As already suggested City Arc. The Medway Archives website is the place to look.

Follow this link and scroll down for the parishes available. http://cityark.medway.gov.uk/query/results/?Mode=Search&PathList=%2FZ4a_Medway_Ancestor

If anyone hunting these archives covering around 1860 - 1906 come across any references to the surname Pott I would be very grateful if you could let me know. I know about the pubs but I can't find any baptisms.

Thank you all for your help.  I have a date April 21st 1811, this is for a baptism of William Henry Allsworth.   It provides parents names and a grandparents name, St Mary's Church but little else.  I was hoping for an address from Chatham or Rochester.  That is what I am searching for, although the more I look, the more I think it may not have been recorded.

I got records for St Paul's Church Chatham online from City Ark. Might be worth a try.

Some years ago I was at the County records centre and there was the records from a demolished church in Gravesend. So they may have 'your' records there? (Now of coarse at new records building)

The Diocesan Office, next door to Rochester Cathedral may be of assistance.
