I didn't know there were postcodes in 1950's, just postal addresses.

You are correct about Strood colin haggart.......even Frindsbury, where I lived in the 1950s, was a Rochester postcode and the house rates were paid to Rochester Council even though Strood Rural District Council offices were in the next road.

It does all depend on the boundary and who supplies your services?

Although it is over 200 yards inside the boundery, the postal address is Rainham, postal addresses are always a problem. It should be Upchurch, as you said. Medway City Estate is in Srood, yet the address is Rochester.  There must be a method in their madness.

Despite writing to the developers, they insist the postal address in Rainham, which it isn't, they are 200 metres inside Upchurch parish.  And they have got the street naming wrong.  Very wrong.  The link will explain. Don't get me started again!!!!

I've spotted that the new housing estate being built next to The Three Sisters pub is being built on Gun Field.  Anyone know anything about Gun Field?  I guess that it is not a surname as Gun for a surname is spelt Gunn as far as I know.
