This is a rather charming picture of the National Electric Theatre dating from 1913 with the staff posing outside. It opened around 1911 and was specifically designed as a cinema, costing £3,500 to construct and with seating for 600. I wouldn't be surprised if there used to be more staff in attendance at this one cinema than you get at a modern multiplex. It closed as a cinema in 1950 and still exists as retail premises, standing opposite Primark.
