News: “Over the graves of the Druids and under the wreck of Rome,
Rudely but surely they bedded the plinth of the days to come.
Behind the feet of the Legions and before the Norseman’s ire
Rudely but greatly begat they the framing of State and Shire
Rudely but deeply they laboured, and their labour stand till now.
If we trace on ancient headlands the twist of their eight-ox plough.”

These two soldiers of the first war are commemorated on the number 6 bell in Rochester Cathedral.  Both were choristers at the Cathedral, Brand between 1903-1909 and Edwards between 1910-1914.  I would guess at birth dates of 1895 and 1902 respectively.  Does anyone have any information about them?  I've had only a small success hunting through the Internet, mainly IWM and CWG sites.  Thanks, Martin
