BBC Kettle Drum Broadcasts
In the 50s, as a lad I was given a valve radio which I kept by my bed.  I would fall asleep to the BBC Kettle Drums, which I understand was played through the night in the war.  I'm sure I was told that the BBC played it so those abroad knew England hadn't fallen.

Firstly, can anyone verify the above?

Secondly, is there a link to a sound sample anywhere?

You can hear it here at the beginning of the film.  The drum would repeat right through until the news was broadcast next morning.
