Charringtons Brewery and Minster Sheppey
I cannot begin to count the times I have passed the Highlander pub in Minster village Sheppey,so it was quite a suprise when I visited and walked around the area yesterday to find a couple of superb brewery signs above the front doors, which I have missed!!. Charringtons although known as a London Brewery in the Mile End Road of east London, and formerley of Bethnal Green, had a depot at Gravesend  when They took over Walker and Sons, Wellington Brewery around 1904. They closed up shop in Gravesend in 1928 when the premises were damaged by fire.(source, A century of British Brewers by Norman Barber) I must also add that I have a couple of beer bottles which are embossed Charringtons, Gravesend in my collection

Here are a couple of pictures of the superb tiled sign of which there are two and the signs in situ....
