News: “Over the graves of the Druids and under the wreck of Rome,
Rudely but surely they bedded the plinth of the days to come.
Behind the feet of the Legions and before the Norseman’s ire
Rudely but greatly begat they the framing of State and Shire
Rudely but deeply they laboured, and their labour stand till now.
If we trace on ancient headlands the twist of their eight-ox plough.”

New Bylaws for Bathing at Sheerness
New bylaws issued by Sheerness Council permit mixed bathing on the foreshore only before 8 in the morning and after 10 at night.
For day bathing two sections of the promenade - about a mile apart - have been set aside for men and women.
On Sundays foreshore bathing is allowed only before 8 a.m. other than in the council's bathing station. Bathers must wear "a costume or covering extending from the shoulders" wherever they bathe.
