News: “Over the graves of the Druids and under the wreck of Rome,
Rudely but surely they bedded the plinth of the days to come.
Behind the feet of the Legions and before the Norseman’s ire
Rudely but greatly begat they the framing of State and Shire
Rudely but deeply they laboured, and their labour stand till now.
If we trace on ancient headlands the twist of their eight-ox plough.”

I was wondering what was happening there after the fires.  It looks like it is being abandoned, can anyone confirm?  If it is being abandoned perhaps the council can be persuaded to make the slip into a public slipway, there is no decent access upstream from the Strand.  If left to their own devices the council seem to just want to fence off any public access to the river, presumably scared of the "elfunsafety" brigade.

Fascinating, if sad viewing. What a tragic waste.

The urban explorers have been busy again and have taken some wonderful pictures of this derelict boatyard
