.But a cautionary tale I do not think they will be able to build on that site because of the heavy metals in the soil left over from the coking process.

They were able to on the site of Rochester gasworks, they used some new techniques but I think it was still a 2 year process to clean up the land

Good morning everyone,I can remember being taken into Margate on the number eight bus which stopped at the harbour. On occassions you could see coal being unloaded from barges moored at the harbour arm for the gas works at Margate. But a cautionary tale I do not think they will be able to build on that site because of the heavy metals in the soil left over from the coking process.
