Not the oldest but very rare as it bears the emblem of Edward VIII who was never crowned King. It's outside the Royal Victoria Pavilion at Ramsgate Harbour ...

I may have finally found the answer to this topics question. It looks like the award goes to Gravesend with it 1856 pillerbox, one of only ten left in the country.

That one is slightly different, I wonder which one is older out of the last two?

Thought I would add this one at Wormshill to rival the Rochester one on the previous page!

I think the first and oldest is in the City of London, Princess Street, where the postal service started.
A box on the counter of the penny post office?
It could be the first one in Kent but I think Oxford had the first "free standing" one?
Maybe it's big horse I'm a Londoner. :{

I was told the oldest, in fact the first in the world was in Folkestone near the Grand Hotel.

Looks about the same vintage as the Queenborough one. This is in the wall at Frinsted. Still in use.

1881-1904  ???

Only dates they were made :)

At least its still used ;D

You may not be able to see it on that pic, but normally there is a semi-circle mark around the lock ???

It`s where the rest of the keys rub on the door when they unlock it ;)

Aint I sad, I know that ???

There was a really old pre-red pillar box in Rochester outside the Guildhall. It was octagonal and painted green and gold. I think it's still there.
