I found this information ,
The Georgian coastal battery, known as Fort Sutherland and built in 1798 was a self-contained triangular fort on a small scale, similar to the batteries at Dungeness. The terreplein, slightly raised to give command of the sea, accommodated eight 24-pounders, and a brick loop-holed wall 3.5 metres high extended from the corners of the terreplein to form a sharp point at the rear. The main entrance, guard room and ancillary buildings were spaced along the exterior walls. It was damaged by the sea by 1869 but the foundations of the outer fort wall remain visible  on aerial photographs taken in 1942, 1983 and 2001. The map is where Fort Sutherland is.

Towers 15 still standing, tower 16 destroyed in WW2. The fort Sutherland, Hythe I believe was between these two towers.

Was the fort any where near Fort Road not far from the RHDR station?

Fort Sutherland originally stood between 15 and Tower 16.

Wonder what happened to the fort?  Do they not talk about it because they did something to cause its demise?

Used as a Coast-Guard Station.  Fort Sutherland, at TR 154337. Built in 1798 with an armament of eight 24-pounders (Bennett 1977, 38).  Was standing in 1860 - pic to be added later.

Are there any remains?  I had a quick look on live search earlier but didn't find anything.  When somebody asked earlier bout it (it being on MOD land) they were told that they don't talk about that  ???
