Arthur Cassell used to have a book shop in Sittingourne, which was along the road that led from the High St. towards the Post Office.

I used to work for TH Lane & Son which was originally a Painter & Decorating shop, next to the Post Office in Sheerness, as per Colin Haggart's picture.  Arthur took over the shop a while after the shop was sold, and I can remember going in to see him and having a great chat.  He was a lovely man, and I was sorry when he died.

I'm not sure if Cassells Fish Shop was the same family or not though.

Arthur & Gerry were brothers, and also Will. Now I've said that I'm wondering. Gerry & Will were, or are brothers & I'm sure Arthur was, but could be wrong.

Not sure Bryn Clinch, there was a Cassell's fish hop in Sheerness High St, not sure if there is a connection either, you never know though.

Is this the same Cassell family that had a sweet shop in Sittingbourne? If it is, I was at school with two of them. Gerry now runs the New Appointments Group (NAG) in Sittingbourne.

Cassell's bookshop can be seen on the right of the Rio cinema.

One of my 1987 Rio cinema photos.

Cassell's Bookshop was in The Broadway in Sheerness next to the post office.
I have a photo where the shop was, when I find it, ill post it on here.

The photo below is of the owner, Mr. Arthur Cassell, the photo was taken of Mr. Cassell in his shop by my wife you worked there.

Mr. Cassell was a teacher at what was The Technical School just along The Broadway from his shop.

Sadly he died, in August 1991. We think he is buried in the cemetery near the old Sittingbourne football club.
He used to live in Sittingbourne.

The photo below is of, Mr. Cassell, his daughter Sarah, ( the one in front) and Gillian, not sure who Gillian was.

The photo below was taken in august 1985 as you can see in calender.
