Re Pic 6 is it printed in reverse or were there gate pylons at both sides of the fair?  I can only remember them at the paddling pool side in which case in pic 6 the sea should be on the left not right

I always knew it as "Dive bomber"  Dad took a cousin on it and was sick after, not bad but he was an RAF Air Gunner  Said it was worse than anything he had flown in

Does anyone remember the Doodle Bug, center of pic 6, I remember my mum going on it in the early 50's
and coming off looking very unwell.

Found another one of the fair.In the background seems to be a speedway ride minus it's tilt so was probably on it's last legs.

No embarrassment Sentinel,I was born in 1952 so everything must postdate that.I guess my age when the first photos were taken was under a year and the two on the rides were about 5.Does anyone recognise the badge on my blazer in picture 3?

Great pictures, Conan! In my Reply#10 I recalled "giant fish or sea monsters", nobody else has mentioned these and I was beginning to think that I`d imagined them or got the wrong fairground. But there they are on the extreme left of your pic 5.

Yes I also remember them.  I also remember that a lad (won't mention his name here) slipped and caught his leg under the base as it was moving and had to have his leg amputated.  I have a feeling that it wasn't long afterwards before the ride went.

I also remember the chair-planes especially as I can recall feeling very sick afterwards.  They are the chairs that swung out as the ride got faster going round and round.

My dad has just sent me whole heap of new photos from my past.A quick scan has turned up these from the from the fair ground.Please ignore the young shaver in nappies,it's the background we are looking at here...









I think the switchback ride to the left has recently been restored
