Women's Royal Naval Service (WRENS)

There was a Large detatchment of WRENS working from Sheerness and the Submarine Base at Lapple Bank that is now occupied by Abbots Laboritories.
They were Billeted In the Shrimp Terrace  in Marine Parrade, The upper floors were interconecting as dormetaries some of the doors still have the names of the Sea Captains visible through the paintwork.
There were some 75 Thousand WRENS, many lost their lives or were wounded.
