News: “Over the graves of the Druids and under the wreck of Rome,
Rudely but surely they bedded the plinth of the days to come.
Behind the feet of the Legions and before the Norseman’s ire
Rudely but greatly begat they the framing of State and Shire
Rudely but deeply they laboured, and their labour stand till now.
If we trace on ancient headlands the twist of their eight-ox plough.”

That was S6, Gibraltar Farm.

There is a list of 'Thames and Medway South' (S series) gun sites here:

Yes, there was an AA gun site in Rainham, in the area now enclosed by Taverners Road and Bettescombe Road. It was equipped with 3.7" guns and designated S4 (Sugar Four) of the Thames and Medway South HAA Gun Zone.

Looking at KCC 1946 map I came across this aerial view of Rainham. It looks like an AA gun site but I'm not sure, any ideas?
