News: “Over the graves of the Druids and under the wreck of Rome,
Rudely but surely they bedded the plinth of the days to come.
Behind the feet of the Legions and before the Norseman’s ire
Rudely but greatly begat they the framing of State and Shire
Rudely but deeply they laboured, and their labour stand till now.
If we trace on ancient headlands the twist of their eight-ox plough.”

This one is in the High Street in Whitstable.

The owners of the shop refuse to part with it despite regular offers.

I remember these machines well...I lived in Lower Gillingham just off Pier road and there where a few shops there that catered for the Dockyard workers Gas Works staff and employees of the Novodels Chemical plant just opposite Milner Road.
They had the "Fag" machines outside which fascinated me as a small child...
Wouldnt last 5 mins these days...

If it's too hard I can't do it !

i remember machines similar to this with the draws.put the money in and slide the draw about half way out, then carefully push the draw back in but not all the could end up with almost the whole stack for the price of one packet.can remember at a certain railway station there was a very very good stock of marlborough ciggies and endless bars of chocolate, bar six and i think nestles dairy crunch was on the menu that night.i was never involved in this you understand,it was just something i observed.
