News: “Over the graves of the Druids and under the wreck of Rome,
Rudely but surely they bedded the plinth of the days to come.
Behind the feet of the Legions and before the Norseman’s ire
Rudely but greatly begat they the framing of State and Shire
Rudely but deeply they laboured, and their labour stand till now.
If we trace on ancient headlands the twist of their eight-ox plough.”

OK....Flipping by 90 was harder than I thought. Very similar photo's, we must have been standing on the same spot.  My zoom must have been a bit wider than yours as I can see more of the pavement. Weather is identical. Stats say Sat September 19 at 1430.

I have an almost identical PIC I took a few weeks ago during a visit to Deal. Lovely little town.
Used to go fishing off the Pier in the late 70's with my father.  Never caught much but fond memories. He's very ill now so I think about this a lot at the moment.
Will post a few of my pics. Weather was great, excellent autumn light.

Looks like it could be....I wasn't aware that Margate had a Timeball but could well have done for ships moored offshore...Deal has a Classic Timeball but I'm not sure where Margate is located. What moorings would have been in line of sight? ...Interesting & needs checking out..

Is this a Timeball on Margate's clock. I took the photo last month.
